This is a great example of what happens when cracks are left to allow water to penetrate the sub-grade. Notice the pavement starting to fail on the sides of the crack. This is starting to be a failed area & a pothole will form here soon.

These are the kind of cracks that need attention ASAP. If these get left unsealed...water will begin to destroy the sub-grade.
Cold pour, over 3 yrs, 5 different field studies, had almost a ZERO effectiveness rate.
Hot pour still effective in almost half the cracks after 3 yrs.
Less than 1% vs 43%
These are the kind of cracks that if addressed now will help preserve the pavement for several more years.
This is a fully failed area & needs to be cut & cleared from the sub-grade in order to be patched properly. The goal is to seal your cracks before it ever gets to this point.
This is before & after of routing a crack. The right is before & the left is...well, after😁
This is what's called Alligator cracking. Unfortunately once you see an area get to this point it's too late to do anything  except cut & clear to the sub-grade & patch. If you leave this it WILL become a pothole & a liability.
